Submersible LULA 1000

Submersible LULA 1000

The manned submersible LULA1000 (crew of 3, 1000m of depth) was in operation between 2013 and 2023.

LULA1000 had been optimized for quality video documentation and for the collection of oceanographic data and samples.

With its large viewport of 1.4m in diameter, the vehicle was used for in-situ observation and video documentation of deep sea fauna and habitats, as well as for carrying out scientific experiments. For best image quality, the camera equipment had been regularly upgraded.

LULA1000 had been built and operated according to the rules of the classification society Germanischer Lloyd (DNV-GL), and was a stable work platform, with excellent maneuverability, even in difficult terrain.

The submersible will be part of our permanent deep sea exhibit “THE DEEP”.
