Despite nearly ¾ of the earth´s surface being covered with water, most of our oceans´ depths are still unknown and many species remain to be discovered.

The Rebikoff-Niggeler Foundation is a non-profit organization with the purpose of documenting the deep sea and publishing educational material such as photographs, films, etc. on the marine environment.

The Foundation was created in 1994 and declared an Institution of Public Benefit by the Azorean Government in the year 2000. Joachim Jakobsen, chairman of Foundation Rebikoff´s Administrative Council, together with his wife Kirsten Jakobsen is responsible for the Foundation´s activities.
